Craig Bellamy states the English squad depth is so impressive that a boxing promoter would not pair them with the Welsh team.

Bellamy's men face their neighbors in a non-competitive match at Wembley on this Thursday before their crucial qualifying match against the Belgians next the following week.

England manager Thomas Tuchel has left the such as Bellingham, Foden and Grealish from his squad for the Wales friendly and their World Cup qualifier against Latvia.

"England have a ridiculous squad, similar to France," Bellamy remarked.

"They have a transfer market value of 1.4 billion pounds, ours is 170 million. If you were a fight promoter, you would not match us up. That wouldn't be permitted."

Bellamy explains making sure Wales can face the talented rivals is a "key motivation".

The Wales head coach continued: "We do not rely on market prices, but the reality is England don't just have a single lineup. They possess multiple and France and other nations have the same level. They have loads of great players and that's a fact."

"One right-back went out with injury the recently and there's only 24 more to choose from! They've got over sixty footballers. I wish Wales to be well-equipped like them."

The neighbouring countries most recently met at the 2022 tournament in the Middle East, when the English ran out comfortable 3-0 winners in a group match before the previous England team made it to the last eight.

Southgate's successor is Tuchel, a Champions League and world club champion at Chelsea who has claimed league championships in France and his native Germany.

The Welsh boss was formerly an assistant at the Belgian side and the English club to Vincent Kompany, who succeeded him at the German giants.

"He's an outstanding manager - his record speak for themselves," he added.

"I possess a degree of insight because the team he departed I am familiar with individuals who have gone in there. I gain a glimpse from that of his methods and it's remarkable. "

"His tactical detail is elite and I wanted to be facing such a challenge - observe how you're going to adapt because he adapts too. I will get to learn from that. I aspire to get to that level."
