Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr has expressed regret to supporters for his reaction when replaced in the recent heated match against Barcelona win.

He was replaced in the 72nd minute and showed his frustration by going straight off the pitch.

Vinicius subsequently came back to the bench and, following his club's 2-1 victory, sought to engage the opposition's youngster Yamal during unsavoury after the game incidents.

"This day I want to apologise to all the Madridistas for my response when I was replaced in the Clasico," Vinicius wrote on social media.

"In the same way as I have previously expressed during this morning's practice, I wish to express regret anew to my colleagues, the organization, and the leadership.

"Occasionally fervor overcomes me because I always want to succeed and assist my side. My determined nature comes from the affection I hold for this team and each thing it symbolizes."

Vinicius joined Real from Flamengo in 2018 for £38.7m and has scored over a century of strikes in 335 appearances.

But his future in the Madrid is far from certain with speculation in lately indicating that Los Blancos would think about allowing the young star depart if they obtained a good proposal.

When the winger was replaced on Sunday, cameras from broadcaster the platform recorded him remarking: "Always me! I'm departing the side! It's preferable if I depart, I'm leaving."

In his most recent statement on social media, he commented: "I commit to keep battling at all times for the welfare of Real Madrid, as I have done since the very beginning."
